Testimonials (mouseover to stop rotation):
“Since the mid 80’s Monterey Technologies, Inc. has been supporting simulation-based research on Army helicopter crew station design issues for AMRDEC’s Aeroflightdynamics directorate at NASA Ames Research Center. Their work has been uniformly excellent. Two of their personnel received commendation awards for their outstanding work for us. Without question, MTI is a company we look to when facing technical barriers in human factors, and crew station design.”
“Monterey Technologies, Inc. is one of the most competent and professional companies I have had the pleasure to work with over my 37 year career. Their knowledge of human behavior in complex military systems is complementary to our simulation and modeling efforts. Dr. Hennessy’s technical reputation is nationally recognized and this knowledge directly reflects upon the outstanding technical staff he has developed. His Management Controls are superb. I look forward to working with them on the many forthcoming opportunities to provide support for our national defense and homeland security needs.”
“I have known Bob Hennessy for over twenty years. Monterey Technologies, Inc. is one of the best human factors companies around. They are currently helping us develop new approaches to aerial gunnery training and I am more than pleased with their work.”
“MTI has a sterling reputation in the human factors community for careful, high quality analyses and good value for cost. I have personally known MTI staff and about their human factors work for more than fifteen years. They always deliver a high quality product. They helped the Air Force establish the Crew System Ergonomics Information Analysis Center (CSERIAC) and recently delivered a human factors test bed for a satellite controller's workstation.”
"Monterey Technologies, Inc. has been one of my most valuable contractors for over ten years. Their work in support of the Army's Rotorcraft Pilot's Associate (RPA) simulation testing was particularly important. Their crew station design and evaluation work is first-rate. I have no problem recommending MTI to anyone who needs human factors and simulation expertise."
“The work that Monterey Technologies, Inc. team is doing for the Commonwealth of Australia developing complex mission scenarios for training our Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control mission crews is outstanding. You are our only contractor on the project who delivers more than we expect, - ahead of schedule!”
“the quality of work MTI provides to the RPT is consistently outstanding. The company obviously hand-picks it’s employees. I have never seen such a consistently excellent performance from contractors or Government organizations. We couldn’t get this job done without the support from MTI”

Command & Control
MTI has Subject Matter Experts (SME) and human factors engineering professionals with significant expertise in military command & control. Our SME’s have hands-on operational experience in joint warfighting at both the tactical and the operational level of war.
Examples of our SME expertise include:
-
Joint Task Force (JTF) Operations
-
Joint Forces Air Component Commander (JFACC) Operations
-
Joint Forces Maritime Component Commander (JFMCC) Operations
-
Theater Air and Missile Defense (TAMD)
Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD) Planning & execution
-
TAMD doctrine development
-
TAMD tactics techniques & procedures (TTP) development
-
Tactical Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C)
-
Strategic Communications
-
Battle Group / Airwing Operations
-
Time Critical Targeting / Time Sensitive Targeting (TCT / TST)
Our specific experience in JTF, JFACC, and JFMCC operations provides an understanding of the information needed to effectively present a Common Operating Picture (COP) to Joint warfighting staffs at the operational level of war.
MTI’s human factors engineering staff offers human systems integration (HSI) capabilites with a focus on human-machine interface (HMI) design for C4/ISR systems. We have successfully designed, developed, and evaluated HMI’s for advanced display systems for a variety of Military, NASA, FAA, and international C4ISR applications. Our proven human factors processes insure that we capture all the user’s needs, and design our user interfaces, using data fusion display techniques, to transform C4/ISR operators from human data integrators to decision-makers.
Our expertise also spans the design and layout of large team facilities, such as Air Operations Centers (AOC), Space Operations Centers (SOC), JFACC’s, JFMCC’s, and JTF’s. We focus on optimizing individual and team performance within the facility, rather than the typical engineering approach that focuses on hardware issues (e.g. - electrical power, cooling, cable runs, number of workstations, etc.) that ignores the human user, and typically results in a grossly inefficient layout for workflow and work completion.
